First steps and challenges: Our path in fundraising for drones
The first donations have started to come in, and we’re thrilled to receive support. However, things haven’t been as smooth as initially expected. We conducted fundraising in various places and communicated about it in many chats. In some instances, we received no response, while in others, we unexpectedly received significant support. But there were also times when our messages were met with mockery. When this happens, it’s disheartening, reflecting on the country and society we live in. It’s disheartening to see people only waiting for help from others but unwilling to participate in improving the situation themselves.
Nevertheless, we haven’t lost hope and believe things can change for the better. We hope more people will understand the importance of their contribution to the common good and that together we can make a change for the better. Maybe the war will help many to wake up and finally reflect. But that’s not our main focus here.
We’ve already started ordering the first drone parts, understanding that this process can be lengthy. While the parts are arriving, we plan to gradually assemble the first drone, hoping we can gather enough funds for the rest.
However, there are challenges here too. We worry whether we’ve chosen the right parts, as we had no prior experience in such orders. The website was confusing with a vast array of parts and instructions. It all resembles the challenges you face when doing something for the first time.
When we analyzed the costs, it turned out that the funds we are raising would only cover the drones themselves, but not the batteries. This is an important consideration, but as we haven’t even assembled the first drone yet, we will think about the batteries later.
So, everything seemed straightforward, but here we are. And this isn’t the first thing we’ve discovered.
Therefore, despite the challenges, we continue to work. Fortunately, we already have the necessary soldering equipment, so no additional expenses for tools are needed. We have a soldering iron, solder, flux, and most importantly - inspiration and the desire to work.
