Steps to Change: Reflections on Our Drone Project and Community
After a long wait, we have finally received all the necessary details for our project. We eagerly awaited this moment, and now it has arrived. Everything was going well, albeit not without some difficulties. For example, the antenna for the drone, which receives the signal from the controller, turned out to be different from what we had ordered. It did not support the necessary signal frequency, so we had to look for an alternative solution.
But finally, we have everything we need to start working on our goal - assembling the first drone. This is a big step forward, and we eagerly await the moment when it will take flight.
We are also grateful for the continued donations, thanks to which we have already collected more than half of the necessary amount. This allows us to start planning the ordering of parts for the next drone. However, we decided to wait and first check all the components to ensure their functionality.
With Black Friday approaching, we hope to take advantage of the opportunity to save on parts, as component prices constantly fluctuate, often increasing. Our first order was fulfilled as expected, and we hope to provide everything necessary for all the drones.
Fundraising is going slower than we hoped. Partly, this may be due to people’s general fatigue from numerous collections. When we started our campaign, we reviewed many charities and realized how hard it is to choose the one that needs the most support.
I recall a conversation with friends, where one said, “Just got my salary, and already it’s all gone to volunteering”. This shows that despite all the difficulties, people continue to believe in victory and support important initiatives.
Just some thoughts out loud. So, we live in a picturesque city, a cultural center, almost in the capital of our state, almost. But honestly, looking out the window, it’s hard to believe. The children’s playgrounds are neglected, last repaired by some candidate for deputy who even left a plaque with his name to get votes in the election. But since then, much has broken. Wires protruding from the ground create a hazard for children. Perhaps someday someone else will take on the playground’s repair. But for now, everyone waits and, of course, does nothing. And the sidewalks on the street also need repair, but no one has yet reached them. Maybe they remain as a reminder of the past. Hmm, where do our taxes go? Perhaps to the salary of a very important person or that deputy who once spent on the playground’s repair and is now trying to recoup his money. With such an approach, it’s hard to build a society like the ones in Europe.
But despite all these challenges, we must remember that change begins with ourselves. Each of us can contribute to creating a better future. It can be something small, like helping a neighbor or volunteering, or something bigger, like our drone assembly project. Our small actions have a big impact. When we combine our efforts, we can create significant changes.
So let’s not lose hope and continue to work together for a better future. Each of us contributes to building a strong, fair, and prosperous community. Together we are stronger!
